RESIDENTIAL TRIPS
At Redbridge High School we aim to offer every young person the opportunity to experience a educational residential trip whether this is for one night, a few nights or a school week away depending on the needs of the individual.
The main aim of any educational residential trip or expedition is to give the pupils a positive learning experience in a new environment.
We generally offer a trip to the Wingate Centre for Year 8 pupils as an introduction to being away from home with a group of friends.
There are many benefits from this educational residential trip a few of these are;

Promote confidence and self-esteem as they visit and explore new places.

It offers hands on and practical activities to enhance the learning of the young people.

The group are able spend quality time with their friends and form positive relationships which will enhance their school experience.

It gives the staff the opportunity to get to know the pupils on a more informal basis.

Staff obtain a greater insight as to the pupil’s abilities and needs enabling them to make more informed decisions when planning activities in school.

Promotes independent living skills
When the pupils move up to Base 4 the residentials are linked to the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme as all pupils are offered the option to enrol on the programme. Instead of being a educational residential trip they are classed as an expedition and contain a more challenging content to match the aims of the scheme.
It is vital that the pupils feel happy, safe and secure whilst away on residential/expedition therefore we will always work closely with parents asking their advice and guidance how to achieve this and we also try our utmost to match the individual needs of the pupils with staff who know them the best from school.
All trips are planned in accordance with Liverpool City Council’s Policy and Guidelines and we aim to maintain the highest standards to ensure the best experience for the pupils.
Our most recent residential trip was Bendrigg Lodge in February 2022.
